Global Service Learning Programs

Global Service Learning at Morgan Academy is fully integrated with classroom curricula and involves all of our educators and students (as is age and skill-appropriate) in domestic and/or international explorations. From firsthand, scientific study of the Chesapeake Bay watershed to understanding oppression and resistance in World War II at key sites in France, Germany, and Belgium, our students have regular opportunities to dig deep.

Key program topics include living history and civil rights education, service learning that integrates design, literacy, micro-innovation initiatives, hands-on participation in science field research for conservation projects, language and cultural immersion, and other areas that faculty see as the best fit with their curriculum.

Morgan Academy students participate (above) in award-winning Chesapeake Bay Foundation environmental education and service programs.  These “enable students and teachers to conduct their own research through biological sampling, chemical analysis, and physical measurements, ” states the CBF. “In addition to using critical thinking skills to evaluate the health of the ecological system,” CBF notes, “participants also gain a unique perspective in the relationship between water quality, fisheries, and economics.”
